CLASSES
Foundations
The key to improvisation:
The art of improvisation requires that you know this key. The ones who do not know it end up by dancing in a repetitive and boring way.
Of course, the key to this is not the basic step!
Discovering such a simple and powerful structure is truly magical. We took many years to understand it and today we are able to teach it to you in
a lesson. Mastering it depends on your practice and dedication to it.
Class 1: 20hs Keys and foundations.
Class 2: 21hs Exercises and improvisation.
Sacadas:
Sacadas are a unique and exclusive move of Argentine Tango. In any other dance do legs cross in different directions.
In this class you will learn:
* How elementary sacadas for men and women work.
* How to lead and follow sacadas in simple and comfortable way.
* When and where to do sacadas taking into account musicality.
Class 1: 20hs Concept, exercises and types of sacadas.
Class 2: sacadas in circular movements. Combinations and improvasation.
Woman Boleos
One of the most dynamic and elegant moves of Argentine Tango. Also, boleos can cause a lot of difficulties for women when either her or her partner
do not have an appropriate technique. This type of move is both smooth and energetic. To many people doing boleos can become a nightmare.
As compared to other moves, boleos are one of the most developed moves. Its technique has been changing with the main objective of solving problemsto people
who wish to include boleos in their dance. If we compare boleos to other moves, we can say that boleos are one of the most developed movements in tango. Its technique has been changing in order to solve the problems people encountered when they tried to incorporate boleos into their dance.
We have studied in detail all its parts and today we want to teach that to you. We are certain that with practice and an appropriate technique boleos will become one of your favourite moves.
This class includes crossed forward boleos, crossed backwards boleos and combinations of both of them. In addition, we will propose some exercises to lead and follow.
Class 1: 20hs New Concept. Exercises. Leading, following and balance.
Class 2: 21hs Crossed forward and backward boleos. How to apply them in your dance. Musicality.
Turns
A very important move in Argntine Tango, since most of the time we dance we are actually turning.
One of the things that makes a difference between a beginner, and intermediate and an advanced dancer is the correct way to lead and follow a turn.
Knowing its structure, musicality, acceleration and the appropriate posture will certainly make a difference.
Most tango students believe that they already know such a simple structure as the turn, however, they tend to make big mistakes when leading or following and they also have problems with their balance. Women tend to do more steps then necessary and men usually apply more strength than the one they need. They also have problems when the time comes to combine turns with other moves such as sacadas, boleos, etc.
We want to invite you to discover a simple and more adequate technique which will help you to lead and follow, to use that turn appropriately according to its musicality and to combine it with such other moves as sacadas, boleos, etc.
Class 1: 20hs: Theory of the centres. (teoria de los centros). Impulse. Exercises.
Class 2: 21hs : Beginning and end of a turn. Energy, leading and following. How to apply turns while dancing.
Milonga
When dancing milonga it is possible to appreciate the musicality and gracefulness of each dancer.
Many dancers are afraid of dancing milonga, and this is quite logical.
It happened to me …When I started dancing tango I first got acquainted with tango and vals (waltz en ingles, no se como lo usan uds). Milonga was very difficult and stressful to dance because I felt I had to run and lead at the same time.
As time went by I discovered that an adequate technique can solve any problem and allow us to enjoy such a wonderful dance as Tango.
In this class you will learn to dance milonga, no matter which level you have.
Class 1: 20hs. Beginning and end of sequences. Transitions. Typical features of milonga.
Class 2: 21hs: Beat and traspie.
Lead and Follow
Different types of embrace, different styles, different leading. Why is it that a good master is able to make a wonderful experience out of tango regardless of his style? How does a good female dancer adapt to any partner without losing her own style ?
This is a new perspective that will help you to :
Class 1: 20hs Leading practice with individual exercises. NO balance no leading! . Leading with different types of embrace. Tension and height.
Class 2: 21hs Energetic and rhythmic moves. Relaxed moves. Applying this to social dance.
Ganchos
Ganchos for men and women.
Ganchos are one of the icons of Argentine Tango. They are a unique feature of this
dance.
Ganchos are one of the moves that made Argentine Tango be admired all over the world. In fact, many people decided to try Argentine Tango because of the gracefulness of this move. Nowadays, some people try to forbid or avoid this type of move in social dancing. We know it is important to show respect towards the other couples dancing on the dance floor, however, there are many ganchos that can be adapted to social dancing.
We have discovered a variety of ganchos and many different ways to do them. Here you will learn some of the nicest ganchos.
Class 1: 20hs First Part. Structure, leading and directions.
Class 2: Second Part. Beginning and end of turns, combinations with other moves, improvisation.
Crosses Vals ( Waltz) and Vals Criollo
It is important to know them so you can dance to their tune. In contrast with vals vienes , crossed Vals ( waltz) has some certain characteristics that make it unique. It differs from traditional tango because of its beat and musicality.
It is important for a dancer to know what makes the difference between tango, waltz and milonga as well as which are the moves preferred by the masters in order to interpret these types of music.
If you don't know this difference it would be difficult for people to know whether you are dancing tango, waltz or something else.
Here you will learn:
Class 1: 20hs. Simple time and stress. Exercises and sequences.
Class 2: Improvisation and choice of moves for waltz.
Different Orchestra Styles
It is important to know which style suits each orchestra in a better way. It is important to master this if you want to become a good dancer or a master. Just as choosing different types of clothes and colors to match them in a nice way, good taste and elegance are characteristics of Argentine Tango.
Here you will learn.
Class 1: Types of embrace and rhythmic differences.
Class 2: Choosing and adapting sequences to different orchestra styles
Back sacadas for men and women
The challenge to move from intermediate to advanced level. Sacadas can be a very simple or a very complicated move. How ?
Back sacadas show us how good our base technique is. Without an appropriate or good base this type of move can be very difficult and even impossible to do.
In this type of move, technique is very important. I know many students who have been hitting their partners ankles for years every time they try to do a sacada. There certainly comes a point when they do not want to try it anymore. However, I can tell you the secret to solve this problem quite easily.
When I carried out my first performance in Mar del Plata, I found that the most difficult move I had to make was the back sacada. Why ? Because I hit my partner's ankle. From that moment on my challenge began. I did not want that to happen again. Discovering its technique took me a few years, teach it will take only a few minutes.
Class 1: Pivot, exercises for dissociation. Back sacada for men.
Class 2: Technique for sacadas for women. Combinations.
End of classes. Revision and doubts about the whole seminar.
Feel free to practice and ask all your questions to clarify doubts. Here you will find a space for that.
